We are pleased to share that six of our physicians have been named to Minnesota Monthly’s Top Doctors list: Dr. Anna Bakeman, Dr. Joshua Dorn, Dr. Kristin Gendron, Dr. Garrett Griffin, Dr. Alice Knoedler, and Dr. Christopher Tolan.
About the Recognition
Minnesota Monthly’s Top Doctors list is a peer-nominated honor. Thousands of physicians across the Twin Cities metro area and Olmsted County are surveyed each year and asked to recommend the colleagues they trust most within each specialty. The result is a list of Top Doctors created entirely by peer physician recommendations.
Three of our honorees — Dr. Dorn, Dr. Gendron, and Dr. Tolan — have been named Top Doctors so consistently that they’ve also earned Minnesota Monthly’s Legacy of Excellence distinction, given only to physicians recognized for eight or more consecutive years. Read more about that honor in our separate post celebrating their sustained excellence.
Meet Our Honorees
Dr. Anna Bakeman of Midwest Facial Plastic Surgery is double board-certified by the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the American Board of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery (ABOHNS). She specializes in Mohs reconstruction, scar revision, rhinoplasty, blepharoplasty, facial paralysis management, and facelift and injectable treatments. She earned her M.D. from the Medical College of Wisconsin, completed her Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, and returned to the Medical College of Wisconsin for fellowship training. A proud Midwesterner and Alpha Omega Alpha honor society member, she loves helping patients feel their best with natural-looking results.
Dr. Joshua Dorn of Midwest Allergy & Asthma is double board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) and the American Board of Allergy and Immunology (ABAI). A graduate of the University of Minnesota Medical School, he completed his residency at Hennepin Healthcare and a fellowship at Mayo Clinic. Dr. Dorn treats both children and adults, with particular expertise in food allergy, drug allergy, asthma, and chronic cough, and his own personal experience with allergies shapes how closely he listens to his patients.
Dr. Kristin Gendron of Midwest ENT Specialists is board-certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery (ABOHNS). She is an ENT specialist who has cared for our community since 2007. A graduate of Dartmouth College and the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, she completed subspecialty training in head and neck oncology at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Dr. Gendron is dedicated to the treatment of head and neck cancers and has published research shaping how patients with these conditions are cared for.
Dr. Garrett Griffin of Midwest Facial Plastic Surgery is double board-certified by the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the American Board of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery (ABOHNS). A lifelong artist, he was drawn to the specialty for the way it blends artistry with surgical precision. He trained at the University of Virginia Medical School, completed his Head and Neck Surgery residency at the University of Michigan, and finished his fellowship in Beverly Hills, California, training under a surgeon featured on E!’s “Botched.” Dr. Griffin is one of the nation’s leading experts in facial paralysis and Bell’s palsy treatment, and his work has been featured in the Wall Street Journal and on local television.
Dr. Alice Knoedler of Midwest Allergy & Asthma is double board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) and the American Board of Allergy and Immunology (ABAI). A graduate of the University of Vermont College of Medicine, she completed her residency at Georgetown University Hospital and a fellowship in Allergy & Immunology at the University of Virginia, training under the physician who first identified alpha-gal syndrome. She has specialized experience diagnosing and managing alpha-gal syndrome (the “mammalian meat allergy”), along with food allergies, asthma, and skin conditions like eczema and hives. Her goal is to help patients live their best lives without allergies or asthma holding them back.
Dr. Christopher Tolan of Midwest Facial Plastic Surgery is double board-certified by the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the American Board of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery (ABOHNS). He earned his medical degree from the University of Minnesota and completed his residency there in Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery, followed by a fellowship at UC Davis Medical School. A childhood love of art led him to reconstructive and cosmetic surgery of the face and neck, where he has dedicated his career to helping patients look and feel like themselves again.
We couldn’t be prouder of this group, and we’re grateful to the peers across Minnesota who nominated them.
