Legacy of Excellence
Three physicians honored for eight consecutive years as Minnesota Monthly Top Doctors
We are excited to announce that three of our physicians, Dr. Joshua Dorn, Dr. Christopher Tolan, and Dr. Kristin Gendron, have been named to Minnesota Monthly’s Legacy of Excellence, a distinction reserved for physicians who have earned Top Doctor recognition for eight or more consecutive years.
What This Recognition Means
Minnesota Monthly’s Top Doctors list is built entirely on peer nominations. Each year, thousands of physicians across the Twin Cities metro area and Olmsted County are surveyed and asked, “If you or a loved one needed medical care, which doctor would you recommend?” The physicians named most earn the title of MN Monthly Top Doctor. We are proud to have 6 physicians who earned the Top Doctor title this year.
The Legacy of Excellence recognition goes a step further. The recognition celebrates physicians who are consistently named to the list, being featured for 8 or more consecutive years. It is a reflection of sustained trust from fellow physicians.
Meet Our Legacy of Excellence Honorees
Dr. Joshua Dorn is double board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) and the American Board of Allergy and Immunology (ABAI). A graduate of the University of Minnesota Medical School, he completed his residency at Hennepin Healthcare in Minneapolis and a fellowship in Allergy and Immunology at Mayo Clinic. Dr. Dorn treats both children and adults, with particular expertise in food allergy and oral immunotherapy, drug allergy, asthma, and chronic cough. His approach to patient care is shaped in part by his own personal experience with peanut and tree nut allergy and asthma; he believes in listening closely to patients and building treatment plans grounded in the latest research. Outside of medicine, he enjoys spending time with his wife and three children.
Dr. Kristin Gendron is board-certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery (ABOHNS) and has cared for our community since 2007. She graduated cum laude from Dartmouth College and at the top of her class from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, one of the highest-volume head and neck cancer treatment centers in the country, where she also completed her residency. She went on to complete subspecialty training in head and neck oncology at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Dr. Gendron is dedicated to the treatment of head and neck cancers and has published research on clinical pathways for head and neck cancer patients, tumor vaccines for HPV-associated squamous cell carcinoma, and management of salivary gland cancer.
Dr. Christopher Tolan is double board-certified by the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the American Board of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery (ABOHNS). He earned his medical degree from the University of Minnesota Medical School and completed his residency in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Minnesota Hospitals and Clinics, followed by a fellowship in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery at UC Davis Medical School. His path into the specialty began in medical school, when he observed children undergoing repair of congenital facial deformities such as cleft lip and palate, an experience that led him to dedicate his career to reconstructive and cosmetic surgery of the face and neck.
Congratulations to Dr. Dorn, Dr. Gendron and Dr. Tolan on this well-earned recognition. Thank you for the years of dedicated care you’ve brought to our patients and our community.
