{"id":5632,"date":"2025-03-04T12:57:10","date_gmt":"2025-03-04T18:57:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mwent.net\/?p=5632"},"modified":"2025-03-04T12:57:11","modified_gmt":"2025-03-04T18:57:11","slug":"midwest-hearing-partners-with-minnesota-lions-to-support-hearing-health","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mwent.net\/midwest-hearing-partners-with-minnesota-lions-to-support-hearing-health\/","title":{"rendered":"Midwest Hearing Partners with Minnesota Lions to Support Hearing Health"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1080\" height=\"1625\" src=\"https:\/\/mwent.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/Lions-.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5639\" style=\"width:341px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mwent.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/Lions-.png 1080w, https:\/\/mwent.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/Lions--768x1156.png 768w, https:\/\/mwent.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/Lions--1021x1536.png 1021w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1080px) 100vw, 1080px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>On Thursday, February 20, Midwest Hearing welcomed&nbsp;<strong>Lion Bob Harms<\/strong>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<strong>Lion Marlene Hayman<\/strong>&nbsp;from the&nbsp;<strong>Minnesota Lions Hearing Foundation<\/strong>&nbsp;to our Eagan clinic, where&nbsp;<strong>Director Kristi Gravel<\/strong>&nbsp;met with them to provide an in-kind donation of used hearing aids in support of their mission to improve hearing health.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For over five decades, the&nbsp;<strong>Minnesota Lions Hearing Foundation<\/strong>&nbsp;has played a crucial role in advancing hearing care through a range of impactful programs in Minnesota:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Establishing Universal Newborn Hearing Screening in Minnesota&nbsp;<\/strong>\u2013 Before newborn hearing screening was mandated in the state of Minnesota, the Lions provided equipment and training to establish programs to detect hearing loss in newborns before leaving the hospital, ensuring timely intervention for children.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Affordable Hearing Aid Project<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 This program provides hearing aids to individuals with limited resources, expanding access to high-quality hearing technology across the state.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Funding for Otolaryngology Training<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 Supporting the education and development of ENT specialists to enhance hearing care expertise.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Major Capital Projects<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 Investing in facilities like the&nbsp;<strong>Lions 5M International Hearing Center<\/strong>,<strong>&nbsp;The Lions Voice Clinic<\/strong>, and&nbsp;<strong>Lions Children\u2019s Hearing &amp;&nbsp;ENT Clinic<\/strong>, which provides specialized care for children with hearing and ENT disorders.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The Foundation continues to expand its reach, recently&nbsp;<strong>funding a new hearing testing booth at the Lions Children\u2019s Clinic, remodeling the Temporal Bone Lab for ENT specialist training, and working toward a mobile hearing testing van<\/strong>. Additionally,&nbsp;<strong>over 11 portable hearing screening machines<\/strong>&nbsp;have been placed in schools and rural communities to improve early diagnosis and access to care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a proud partner,&nbsp;<strong>Midwest Hearing<\/strong>&nbsp;serves as both a&nbsp;<strong>donation site<\/strong>&nbsp;for the Lions\u2019 hearing aid program and a provider for those who qualify for services.
